During my time at Employee Plans Services I was able to apply my knowledge from my degree in Marketing to real world client acquisition and outreach projects, and had the opportunity to see work go from just an idea to it’s full form. These tasks required both independent project management and working as a team, offering dynamic involvement in company processes. The close-knit nature of the office allowed for collaboration across departments, and first-hand experience with navigating the ins and outs of a small business. I personally enjoyed the strong relationships that I had with other interns and employees, which made coming to work something to look forward to, and helped me develop connections that I hope to keep throughout my professional career. I would absolutely encourage anyone looking for supplemental experience to consider a position with EPS to help shape their professional development.

Working as a Business Development and Marketing Intern at Employee Plans Services was an incredible learning experience. During my time with the company, I had the opportunity to dive into various aspects of the business, from customer outreach to developing marketing strategies, and creating marketing products. My supervisors provided continuous guidance and support, helping me to hone my skills and gain practical experience in both business development and marketing. Heading into my summer as the Executive Assistant Intern with Employee Plans Services, I anticipated a relatively ordinary college internship experience. I expected to stay within a rigid lane of responsibility, essentially given a set list of tasks to complete without much freedom or consequential decision making. I quickly learned that this would not be the case. Interning at EPS has taught me more about business operation, resource management and professional communication than I thought any college internship could. Due to the small size of the office and large scale of the business, I was deeply involved in many high priority operations. These experiences allowed me to learn the intricacies of how a successful business office is run. I learned the value of independence and initiative in a workplace, in seeing what needs to be done and getting it done. I learned to balance and prioritize project deadlines, speak up for myself, and garnered various skills that will give me an edge wherever my career takes me in the future. At EPS, your work matters. The effort that you put in has real, tangible impact in both aiding the business’ operations and helping its clients. My time at EPS provided invaluable experience, not only expanding my professional skill set but also instilling a sense of confidence and purpose that I can carry with me wherever the future leads.

The Business Development Internship at Employee Plans Services has provided me with knowledge and experience that further developed my organizational skills, persuasive tactics, and cooperative efforts. I spent most of my time engaging in outreach efforts to principals in the nearby public-school systems, while also incorporating important information into sales data analysis. I learned the value of cooperation with others too, especially while working alongside other interns to formulate action plans for the business. This experience, as a young adult in college, will be valuable as I will take these skills with me wherever I go.

Throughout my time here, I had the opportunity to dive headfirst into various projects, but one that truly stands out is my involvement in developing our new website. From its start to completion, I had the privilege of being involved in every step of the process. During my time as an Executive Assistant with Employee Plans Services, I learned the foundations for success in a professional office setting. I began as an inexperienced college student. I left with the ability to balance multiple project deadlines and tasks. I overcame my fear of the telephone. I learned the fundamentals of office etiquette and successful customer service.Most importantly, I learned accountability, responsibility, and time management skills. I was able to directly apply these skills as I moved into the next chapter of my life and successfully graduated from Penn State Law School. I am confident that the experience I had while working at Employee Plans Services has been, and will continue to be, invaluable in shaping my life as a confident and prepared young professional.

I have learned a lot about health insurance through my graphic design internship with Employee Plans Services. Designing the flyers and brochures have really helped me gain more experience with the design software I used and added more material for my portfolio. I also learned a lot about working independently, and working under strict deadlines. I also gained a lot of real-life work experience, managing my projects and by working independently with the sales representatives.

I really enjoyed my experience as an accounting and finance intern at Employee Plans Services. It was an excellent opportunity for me to apply the knowledge and skills obtained in the classroom to the “real world” professional environment.   I gained valuable experience in small business accounting and extensive knowledge of Quick Books. The internship helped me improve my attention to detail skills, and further develop my analytic abilities and technical skills by tackling various projects. Furthermore, the internship tremendously helped me improve my time management skills by meeting all the tight financial deadlines. The valuable skills acquired during the internship helps me in my career as an accountant/auditor and helped me immensely during my graduate years at Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.

Over the course of my ten-month tenure with EPS, I was able to flex my creative muscles in a fast-paced environment that changed minute-by-minute. One of the most useful skills I took away is that I became adept at paying close attention to detail – the nitty gritty stuff – which I attribute to self-proofing my projects.Another take away would be the priceless skill of foresight. From step one, I learned how to strategize, develop, and execute campaigns directed at specific clients. I was able to train myself to always be thinking endgame while designing, and because of that I was able to produce work that translated well across different mediums.

My internship at EPS gave me crucial business skills that are applicable inside and outside of the insurance sales world. At EPS I worked directly with clients and gained crucial experience in business development and consultative sales. As a student, working an internship with real sales responsibilities was an invaluable experience and set me up for success in the business world upon graduation. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work at EPS.

​During my time at EPS, I was able to get a better understanding of how small businesses work and how heavily involved every employee must be in the decision-making process. At EPS I was provided with the autonomy to make key decisions which allowed me to thrive and take personal responsibility for important tasks. By working in every step of our marketing and sales funnel, I gained crucial experience in business development and consultative sales.  Being acknowledged for my hard work was always a great feeling which motivated me even further. Overall, I am confident that the experience I had while working at Employee Plans Services has been invaluable and will help carry me forward in my professional career.

Throughout my internship, I was able to gain invaluable professional skills. I  took on a wide range of projects from designing flyers and forms to creating vectors and websites, and more! Some of which were things I have never done before, so I was constantly challenged to try new things and develop new skills. I was not only able to develop my portfolio, but also enhance my attention to detail, time management skills, and technical skills. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Employee Plans Services and I am extremely grateful for the experience.

While interning at EPS, I was able to gain invaluable experience working in a professional environment with coworkers to help expand the business. I was able to work closely with clients and insurance representatives to extend EPS’ outreach and maximize sales. Working here gave me a real sense of responsibility which is difficult to find at other internships. After this internship, I am better able to understand how important decision-making and organization are to the success of a business. I am confident that my experience with EPS will help me succeed in my future career endeavors, and I am happy with my time here.

During my time as a Business Development Intern for Employee Plans and Services, I was given great responsibilities that are often not expected of interns. Some of my responsibilities included lead generation and scheduling sales presentations, which were key aspects to the growth of the company. I enjoyed the level of autonomy and responsibility I had while working, knowing that I was having a direct impact on the business. Being a sales related position, the harder you work, the more money you can earn. This work-hard mentality resulted in me driving growth for the company, as well as developing many business-related skills that I will take with me. From working on lead generation and bookings to working on contract writing and information security projects, I can truly say that I was able to expand my professional skill set while being trusted to contribute to key company operations. I was also fortunate to be able to work in a great atmosphere with a great group of individuals from the top-down. ​Throughout my internship at the Employee Plans Services, I developed skills such as developing a cohesive brand strategy, and an exceptional organization, especially towards my attention to the details. This experience also helped me to be more familiarized with the necessary software such as Adobe Creative Suite. I was able to use these skills to develop graphics for the company’s widely distributed products such as flyers, brochures, and website redesign. I have also seen how EPS values the graphics that I have contributed to the company, during my internship. Thus, I was persistently eager to find new ways to be more creative. With Employee Plans Services, I was able to stretch my professional performance as a Graphic Designer.
